The situation colloquially called hidden sugar expresses the metabolic status between normal glucose balance and diabetes.
Normally the blood sugar needs to be < 110 mg/dl on an empty stomach. And if this blood sugar is above 110 mg./dl but under < 126 mg/dl on an empty stomach it is defined as an “Impaired Glucose Tolerance”.
Similarily, if the blood glucose level in the 2nd hour is 126 mg/dl but below 200 mg/dl in persons where a Sugar Increase Test is taken is also called Impaired Glucose Tolerance. The blood sugar levels of these persons are normal during the day and the classical findings of diabetes are not met. Despite this, since these persons are in the most at-risk group in terms of type 2 diabetes, they need to re-organize their life style.
